This page describes a suite of disc mass modelling tests. This constitutes four different collisionless N-body models. The files are available for download as Gadget format binary files. For information on reading/writing Gadget files, see file formats.
The units are:
|A||An undisturbed 'Milky Way' like disc set up in equilibrium using GalactICs||Garbari et al. 2011||mw_unevol.gad|
|B||Model A evolved for 4Gyrs to form a bar and spiral arms||Garbari et al. 2011||mw_evol4gyr.gad|
|C||Model B bombarded with a low-inclination 1:10 'LLMC' like merger; evolved for XXGyrs to reach equilibrium||Merger parameters as in Read et al. 2008|
|D||Model B bombarded with a high-inclination 1:10 'LLMC' like merger; evolved for XXGyrs to reach equilibrium||Merger parameters as in Read et al. 2008|
In all cases, the particles are all stored in the dark matter array. The following table lists the order and number of the different particle species: DM: dark matter; disc: disc stars; bulge: bulge stars; and sat: satellite debris:
